One of our first viral phenomena, the "Reverse Soyjaks" have been reposted (co-opted) by champagne socialists, Spanish fascists, and girls.

A hand-drawn illustration by the artist responsible for original image, this piece creates a reversal of the judgmental gaze of the source material and directs it towards the viewer. In the original image, we are invited to mock two men expressing excitement at a plant-based meat alternative. Dubbed "Soyjaks", they are avatars for weak millennial men, whose diets and lifestyles cause them to brim with estrogen.

The "Reverse Soyjak" sublimates the audience, provoking a discussion on subjectivity and viewership. We invite you to ask yourselves: If a spotlight was shone on us, what would others find worth mocking? What is soy about our quotidian? Do we preemptively preen our own public image, fearing the day we are put on center stage?

Perhaps the original Soyjaks allow us to redirect this appetite for stereotyping and dehumanization onto an agreeable mark, buying us time until a new target for our ire is chosen. Those of us foolish enough to express sincerity and unmediated joy in the public sphere are at the top of the list. "Reverse Soyjak" brings these dynamics to light by making its audience the butt of its tired joke. When made the subject of our own ridicule, we might think twice before indulging our base desire to cheapen and dehumanize one another. Just maybe, our collective humanity will prevail.
